RETIREMENT BENEFITS
1. With reference to Public Service Rule (PSR) 020810, the compulsory retirement age for all Grades in the Service shall be 60 years or 35 year of pensionable service whichever is earlier.
2. However, PSR 020808 stated that, in order to ensure that Officers received their retirement benefits promptly, Departmental Pension Desk Officers are required to forward up-to-date record of Service of
these Officers accompanied with the under-listed documents
• Pension Form Gen. 62 (in duplicates) with two recent colour Passport photographs,
• Birth Certificate or Sworn Declaration of Age,
• Record of Service,
• Acceptance of retirement letter,
• Letter of Appointment or Gazette publication of first appointment,
• Letter of Confirmation of Appointment or Gazette publication of first Appointment,
• Clearance Certificate signed by the Director of Administration/ Personnel Management,
• Clearance Certificate of non-indebtedness signed by the Director of Administration/Personnel Management,
• Evidence of last promotion,
• Current personal Emolument card/ last pay Certificate,
• Evidence of transfer (where applicable),
• Evidence of Condonation and Merger of Service (where applicable),
• Carbon copy of audited computation sheet of terminal benefits,
• Signed payment voucher for receipt of gratuity (if applicable),
• Stamped Death Certificate (for deceased Officers).

Group Life Assurance is a right
In compliance with the provision in section 9(3) of the Pension ReformAct (PRA) 2004 (now PRA 214) provided for all employer of labour in the country to procure Group Life Assurance cover for their employees up to a minimum of three (3) times of the employee’s total annual emolument.
In line with the PRA, the Federal Executive Council mandated the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to coordinate the Administration of Group Life Assurance Scheme for the Federal
Government Employees in February, 2010. Responsibility.
In the event of death, it is the responsibility of the deceased family to
notify the Office where the deceased worked last
What is a Privilege ?
A privilege is a right or advantage gained by birth, social position effort or concession.
Training.
Training in the federal Civil service service is a privilege. Although, training will increase productivity and enhance performance towards better service delivery. Technical and administrative training is
important to the employees be it on-the-job training or off-the-job training.
Responsibility.
On-the-job training is normally handled by colleagues, supervisors, managers, mentors to help employee adjust to their work and equip them with appropriate job related skills while Off-the-job is handled
by the team of professionals outside the work place.
